For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" of the personal information described in this policy.

Contact us: info@getcash4cars.net / 07711 831183

2. What Information We Collect

When you use our quote form, contact us by phone or email, or arrange a vehicle collection with us, we may collect:

  • Your name, phone number and email address

  • Your vehicle registration number, make, model, mileage and condition

  • Your collection address

  • Bank details necessary to pay you for your vehicle

  • Any information you choose to share with us when speaking to our team (e.g. by phone or email)

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. We don't collect any special category data (such as health information) and ask that you don't include this in any message to us.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide you with a vehicle valuation and quote

  • Arrange collection of your vehicle

  • Make payment to you once your vehicle is collected

  • Notify the DVLA of the change of ownership on your behalf, and issue a Certificate of Destruction where legally required

  • Respond to any questions or contact you make with us

  • Meet our own legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations

Our legal basis for this processing is that it's necessary to perform the contract of sale between us (providing your quote, collecting your vehicle and paying you), and, in the case of DVLA notification and record-keeping, to comply with our legal obligations as a vehicle purchaser.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We don't sell your personal information. We may share it with:

  • The DVLA, as required by law when a vehicle changes ownership

  • Our bank or payment provider, to process payment to you

  • Regulators or authorities, where we're legally required to disclose information

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website; see Google's Privacy Policy for details.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep information related to a vehicle purchase for as long as required by HMRC and our accounting obligations (typically 6 years), to ensure we can evidence the transaction if ever required. If you contact us but don't go on to sell us a vehicle, we'll keep your enquiry details for no longer than [e.g. 12 months] before deleting them.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal information we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information

  • Ask us to delete your information, where we're not required to keep it for legal reasons

  • Object to or restrict certain processing

  • Ask for your information in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@getcash4cars.net. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.

9. Terms of Sale

These terms apply when you sell a vehicle to us:

  • We offer trade value. The price we pay is the trade value of your vehicle, the price a motor trade buyer pays. Your vehicle's trade value depends on its make, model, age, mileage, condition and current market and scrap-metal prices.

  • Quotes are estimates. Any online or phone valuation is provided based on the information you give us and is subject to confirmation on inspection at collection. If your vehicle's condition differs materially from what was described, we reserve the right to adjust the offer, which you're free to accept or decline.

  • Ownership and risk. Ownership of the vehicle transfers to us once payment has been made and the vehicle has been collected. You confirm that you are the legal, registered keeper of the vehicle (or have the authority of the registered keeper) to sell it to us.

  • Payment. Payment is made by bank transfer only. In line with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, we are unable to pay cash for any vehicle.

  • Outstanding finance. You confirm the vehicle is free from any outstanding finance, and that you'll disclose this to us if it isn't, so it can be settled as part of the sale.

  • DVLA notification. We will notify the DVLA of the change of keeper on your behalf following collection. It remains your responsibility to check you receive confirmation of this and to keep proof of sale for your own records.

  • Cancellation. You may decline any quote at any time before collection with no obligation.
